Youth Experience Externship

On Monday, April 17th, the Local 139 Operating Engineer’s Union hosted an Externship Day at their training facility in Coloma, WI.

Vice Chairman, Robert Smith, Jr., Councilman Caleb McGeshick, Education Director Wayne LaBine and the Crandon School District agreed to participate and provide transportation for interested Tribal and Non-Tribal High School students to attend.

The group was given a tour of the 400-acre training area, and viewed a presentation about the apprenticeship program. Attendees were given the opportunity to try the equipment simulators and practiced operating equipment.

The students were really excited about the opportunity and enjoyed the event. Thank you to Vice Chairman Smith, Councilman McGeshick, Mr. LaBine and the Crandon School District for this opportunity!
