Tribal Historic Preservation Office
The Sokaogon Chippewa Community's Tribal Historic Preservation Office is designed to aid the Tribe with federal compliance issues for grants and permits under the National Historic Preservation Act, enforce Chapter 7 of the Tribal Code, and aid Community Members with any concerns they might have about protecting cultural resources important to them on Tribal Lands.
The Sokaogon Chippewa Community is the 210th Tribe nationwide to establish a formally recognized Tribal Historic Preservation Office under the National Park Service. The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Park Service Director Charles Sams on August 15, 2022.
