Student Federal Aid and Grants; Rec Center Notice

As of October 1st, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is accepting applications for student aid. The deadline for these applications is June 30, 2020. However, it is very important that you get the application process done as soon as possible, as certain states and schools have limited funds!

To be eligible for grants and scholarships for the 2020/21 school year, students ready to complete the FAFSA application should visit studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa.

The deadline for the Tribe’s Higher Educational Aids Board (HEAB) grant process is also coming up soon! Students who would like to apply for a grant need to complete the new application for the HEAB Wisconsin Indian Student Assistance Grant. This needs to be done at the beginning of each new school year. Also, please keep in mind that you must have completed the FAFSA process in order to receive the HEAB grant, and that each student is limited to 10 checks throughout their entire college career.

Along with the application, you will also need to submit the following to me every semester:

  1. Indian Scholarship Application
  2. High School Transcript or GED
  3. Acceptance letter from the educational institute
  4. Current class schedule
  5. Financial Review Form (from the school’s financial aid office)
  6. Semester grades

Tribal Members and Tribal Employees, if you wish to schedule any events at the Rec Center, please contact me. We are in the process of hosting the Foster Grandparent events, the daily Tribal Clinic and Elder events, Cultural Committee events, and Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council (GLITC) events.
