Kimberlee Soldier Named Student Ambassador at Nicolet College
Last week, Nicolet College announced the presentation of “its highest student honor to Kimberlee Soldier and Lena Symonds, naming each as a Student Ambassador for the 2023-24 academic year.”
“As usual, we were incredibly fortunate to have such a strong group of candidates nominated to represent Nicolet College as a Student Ambassador,” said Angelo Guercio, Nicolet Enrollment Services specialist, who coordinated the Student Ambassador selection process. “It was a difficult decision, but in the end, Kimberlee and Lena rose to the top and I’m sure both of them will do a great job representing Nicolet College.”
Students are first nominated for the honor by a Nicolet staff member and then selected for the position after going through an interview process. Soldier was nominated for the ambassador position by Nicolet English Instructor Elizabeth DeVore.
“Kim has been a leader and recruiter to bring Nicolet classes to the Mole Lake community. She does so much to help others pursue educational goals that benefit individuals, local businesses, and the community as a whole,” DeVore wrote in her nomination.
“I am at a loss for words being nominated and selected as the Student Ambassador for Nicolet College. It is very humbling yet exciting for me to represent Nicolet College as the first Sokaogon Chippewa Tribal Member ever nominated and selected. I was completely surprised by this. I just told my story as to why education is important to me,” Kimberlee shared.
“Nicolet College has three Tribes in their district with over 50 years of service to them and it is a wonderful accomplishment for me. I think this shows that my hard work and desire to learn and grow really does pay off. Even if I don’t always see it that way, there is proof in the paper. I always try to share positivity in the community, and I say that if I can do this and it can happen to me, then it can happen to anyone. I really mean that.”
Congratulations Kimberlee!
