Great Eagle Financial Receives $150,000 Grant
Great Eagle Financial Services Corporation (GESFC) was awarded $150,000.00 from the U.S. Department of Treasury through the Native American Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund.
GESFC is located in the heart of the Sokaogon Chippewa Community, but serves all of Forest County. The Fiscal Year 2018 Technical Assistance awardees are headquartered in nine states which include 12 awarded organizations. The sum of the awarded TA grants awarded total $1,706,081.
The CDFI Fund’s Native initiatives support the creation and expansion of Native CDFI’s through the Native CDFI Assistance Program (NACA Program) and capacity building initiatives. Specialized, mission-driven organizations like Great Eagle, called Native CDFIs, specifically focus their activities to help Native communities grow by increasing their access to credit, capital and financial services. Native CDFIs help to create jobs, increase Native-owned businesses, establish or improve affordable housing, and provide access to affordable financing while providing a foundation of developmental services within Native American communities.
This grant will help support the mission of newly formed Great Eagle Financial Services Corporation to be the trusted provider of convenient, quality, personalized service, thus encouraging saving and the wise use of credit. GESFC aims to increase the knowledge and ability of their members to manage their financial well-being while maintaining financial stability, and to generate economic opportunity throughout the community.
