Gov. Evers Directs DHS to Issue ‘Safer At Home’ Order
Non-Essential Businesses to Close
At the request of Gov. Tony Evers, Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary-Designee Andrea Palm today signed the “Safer At Home” order, which directs Wisconsin residents to stay at home and for non-essential businesses to close.
People may still go outside and travel for essential functions, such as going to the doctor’s office and going to buy necessary supplies such as groceries, among other things.
Business that may remain open include:
- Health care facilities
- Human services that include assisted living facilities
- Home-based care and services
- Stores that sell groceries and medicine
- Food and beverage production, transport and agriculture
- Restaurants for delivery and take-out of food
- Essential government operations
- Child care settings
- Charitable organizations
- Gas stations
The order is effective at 8:00 am on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 and remain in effect until 8:00 am Friday, April 24, 2020, or until a superseding order is issued.
