Emmitt Deer Heading to State Championship This Weekend
Today at 2:00 pm there will be a pep rally and send-off at Crandon School honoring the seven state qualifiers, with a Police and Fire escort through Crandon to follow.
Emmitt Deer is 12 years old and a 6th grade student at Crandon School. He is one of seven students headed to Madison this weekend for the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Kids Folkstyle State Championship.
Emmitt has participated in wrestling since he was in 4K, and has qualified for state in 2019, 2021, 2022 and now in 2023!
He has had influential people help guide him throughout the years, including his mentors and coaches Paul Cleerman, Ben Dewing, Johnny Doane, Keith Bradley, Chad Palubicki, Larry Palubicki, Ben Kalata and Cole Shepherd.
Emmitt also has a pretty big cheerleading section, as many family members and friends enjoy watching his matches. His parents, Craig and Sierra Deer, and his sister Brexley never miss a match!
