Child Safety and Protection Month – Infants
Posted on: November 5, 2020
November is Child Safety and Protection Month, and we’ll be sharing some simple tips to keep your children safe and sound all year round. This week, we focus on infant care.
- Two thirds of injury deaths for children less than one year of age occur due to suffocation. To protect your child, always place your baby on their back to sleep. Also, remove all blankets and other objects from the baby’s crib. All that’s required is a firm mattress and fitted sheet.
- Many child car seats are installed incorrectly. You can get your seat checked at many regional locations that may be found here.
- Place working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in all sleeping areas and on every level of the home, and test the batteries regularly.
