Child Safety and Protection Month – Safety Outside

While November isn’t the best month to play outside, it’s still important for children to get out and exercise. During Child Safety and Protection Month, here are some helpful tips:
  • Check the outdoor play area, clearing all sharp objects, tools, trash and animal feces.
  • Have your child wear a helmet when using bicycles, tricycles, roller skates, skateboards and ride-on toys.
  • Make sure your children ask for help retrieving toys if they go in the street.
  • When at a playground, make sure the equipment isn’t too hot. While this is not usually a problem in the Northwoods in November, it’s worth remembering for when things (eventually) get warm again!
