Archery Class Was Educational and Fun
The Sokaogon Chippewa Community and ACE staff recently held an 11-week archery class at the Mole Lake Rec Center. Any kids who wanted to take part in the class came together every Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm. The class was taught by GLIFWC wardens Roger McGeshick Jr. and Roger Weber.
The class focused on safety first and then the proper use of how to shoot a bow. Before the class began, we thought it would be a great idea to purchase two bows and raffle them the last week of class to two lucky winners. This was a great gift and kept the kids coming back each week.
Every week when the kids signed in, they were given a ticket to enter into the drawing for a chance to win the bows. After each class, the kids were given gifts that included gloves, flashlights, hot seats, hats with headlamps and many other incentives to keep them coming back each week and interested.
On the last week of class, the instructors held a pizza party and brought 10 pizzas for the kids. The kids absolutely loved it. After class finished, Roger did the drawing for the bows and our two lucky winners were Katie Quade and Victor Weber.
I would like to take this time to thank all the kids that participated each week. We are looking forward to the upcoming summer archery class that will be held sometime in June and OUTSIDE!
I would like to thank Roger McGeshick Jr. and Roger Weber for committing to do this class and dedicating their Wednesday evenings to the kids. Not only did the kids have fun but the staff was able to get in some shooting time as well.
Thanks again! 😊
